Famed Seattle Mariners Star Ken Griffey Jr. proudly turned over a check last week in the amount of $50,000 for a custom Raider from Star Motorcycles to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, his favorite charity. The Baseball-themed Raider, fabricated by renowned custom designer, Nick Anglada of Nick Anglada Originals, was unveiled last fall at the Long Beach International Motorcycle Show and has since been seen by thousands while on tour at Star Motorcycle events this past year. Pictured with Ken Griffey Jr. and the custom Raider at Safeco Field is Bob Starr, General Manager of National Communications for Yamaha Motor Corporation, and accepting the $50,000 check is Robert J. Bach, President of the Entertainment & Devices Division of Microsoft Corporation, and Boys & Girls Clubs of America Board of Governors Chairman. Ken Griffey Jr. has also served as a member of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America National Board for many years. “Our original idea was to auction the bike to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of America,” said Ken Griffey Jr. “but I liked the Raider so much, I just had to buy it!” “We are truly honored to have such a great ambassador as Ken Griffey Jr. select a Raider as his personal ride,” said Bob Starr, “and the fact that he has donated the cost of this cool custom to such a worthy cause as the Boys & Girls Clubs of America reflects the spirit and dedication that Ken has to the future stars of our country!”
